Pastor Karla was called as the Pastor of St. John's on August 1, 2021 after having previously served as the Vicar as part of the Cooperative Program with the Upper Susquehanna Synod and United Lutheran Seminary from September 2018 through May 2021. Pastor Karla lives on a farm in Bloomsburg with her husband Matthew. They have two grown sons Zachary and Eva of Virginia and David, Tyffani and granddaughter Hadley of Montana. Additionally, they have several others that they have "adopted" into their family. Caring for and spending time with family and friends is important to Pastor Karla.
Prior to going to seminary, Pastor Karla was an Authorized Lay Worship leader with the USS and had a 30 year nursing career that included many years in healthcare software design and management. Her hobbies include spending time with her horses, quilting, reading, gardening and camping. Her favorite verse is: Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not lean on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5).
Pastor Karla looks forward to doing ministry alongside the people of St. John's and the surrounding communities as together we all live into the mission that Jesus Christ has called us to.
